In the July 2019 edition of the New Heights Newsletter, Pastor Dan reflects on how to know God’s will, there are upcoming church events and more!


It’s July and as we enter the second half of 2019, we as a church should always be seeking God’s will for our future.  For our reflection this month, I encourage you to click on the link below to view this week’s edition of the Monday Mentor from my friend Mike Perkinson as he shares with us some truth and practical advice on knowing God’s will for our lives.

  • Joint Worship Service – Sunday July 7th at 10:30 am (note the time change). We’ll be joining our brothers and sisters in Christ at Crossroads Church for a joint service.  Pastor Dan will be preaching and we’ll also be sharing Communion together.  Be sure to join us for this exciting event and invite a friend!
  • Sandwich Sunday – After church this Sunday July 7th, stay and help us make and pack sandwiches that will be taken to feed the homeless in the Twin Cities area.  All are welcome to help!
  • New Heights Book Club – We are forming a book club! We’ll be reading “Beautiful Outlaw” by John Eldredge and gathering to discuss its impact and how we can apply to our lives what we’ve learned. Discussion meeting dates: Thurs July 18 (chps 1-6); Thurs Aug 15 (chps 7-12); Thurs Sept 12 (chps 13-17) all at 7:30 pm at Helen’s home located at 108 Richmond St East in South St Paul.  Sign up on the Resource Table or see Helen to join the club!
  • CCCC Annual Gathering – Tuesday to Friday July 9-12 at St Thomas University in St Paul.  Join the people and churches of our conference from around the world on the beautiful campus of the University of St Thomas in St Paul, MN as we gather around the theme, “The Good Shepherd” from 1Peter 5:2. There Plenary sessions (with speakers like Leith Anderson, NAE Chair), workshops and Ministry Priority intensives. Talk to Pastor Dan to attend or to volunteer.
  • Church Camping Trip – Thursday to Sunday, July 25-28 at Lamb’s Resort & Campground on the North Shore of Lake Superior. This promises to be an awesome time of getting away from our hectic lives and connect with God, each other, and nature.  See Marsha (651) 270-5923 for more info.
  • Sturgis SD Mission Trip - From Saturday August 3 to Friday August 9.  Go to Sturgis in the Black Hills of South Dakota for the annual motorcycle rally where we’ll wash bikes for free and share the love of Jesus to the bikers.  See JoAnne (612) 239-9057 for more information.
  • Outdoor Worship Service & Carnival – Sunday August 18 at 10:30 am we’ll be having an outdoor joint-church worship service with Crossroads Church.  Following the service, we’ll have a picnic for everyone and carnival for the children.  This is an awesome opportunity to reach out to our community and invite them to participate in Jesus’ love.


CHILDREN’S MINISTRY:  We have an exciting Children’s ministry program at New Heights! We believe the Christian education of our children in solid, biblical instruction is of the utmost importance. It can make a difference not only in our children’s eternal destiny but in those they affect during their lifetimes. We offer the following children’s classes held during our Sunday worship service:

Nursery: newborn through 4 years old

God’s Little Lambs: K – 1st Grade

Jesus’ Little Lambs: 2nd – 3rd Grade

Sonshine Kids:  4th – 5th grade

Community Carnival – Sunday August 18th following the worship service that starts at 10:30 am. This is an awesome opportunity to reach out to our community and invite them to participate in Jesus’ love.

YOUTH GROUP:  We have an awesome Youth Group comprised of young people full of life and seeking to grow closer to God.  Our youth group is for students in grades 6-12.

SMALL GROUP BIBLE STUDIES:  We at New Heights believe strongly that our small group Bible studies will deepen your understanding of God’s Word and give you an opportunity to ask questions and apply the Bible to your life. We also spend time each week praying for each other’s needs. Our small groups are also a place where you can meet new people and form deep and meaningful relationships that can encourage and uplift you.

  1. Women’s Discipleship Brunch – On a Saturday in July TBA at 10:00 am at Marsha Schauer’s home located at 8146 Dawn Ave in Inver Grove Heights. . Join the women of New Heights for a great time of fellowship, food, and fun!  Leader is Helen. See her for more information.
  2. Men’s Discipleship Breakfast – Every other Saturday morning at 8:00 am. The next breakfast is July 6 at Perkins Restaurant on Robert St in West St Paul. Leader is Pastor Dan (651) 216-0923. Don’t miss this great time to grow as a disciple of Jesus!
  3. Thursday Bible Study – This Bible study is now on summer break.
